Whose side are you on?

Reading: Joshua 5:1-15

God looks not just at what we do but why we do it. Looking for hearts that please him. Pleasing God is only possible when we have God living in our hearts empowering us.

The people of Israel pleased God when they acted in faith and were circumcised in obedience to God, even though it left them vulnerable to attack by the surrounding enemies. Unlike their fathers who had been circumcised in the flesh but had unbelieving hearts.

After this while Joshua was doing reconnaissance and is confronted by a stranger he changes his question from ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’ to ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’ when the stranger reveals Himself as the Commander of the Army of The Lord of Hosts [Pre-incarnate Jesus].
