The Remnant

Reading: Malachi 2:17-3:18

Key Verse: Malachi 3:16
Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honoured his name.

The people as a whole where not severing God from a whole heart. They had become careless in their devotion. This showed itself in the corruption of the priesthood, a lack of paying tithe, taking advantage of the poor, and intermarrying with the heathens. They where blind to God’s displeasure and the fact the land was cursed. Yet a remnant remained who feared The Lord.

Many today are blessed by God’s common grace, but they need his saving grace in their lives. There is no middle ground – nearly Christian is not a Christian. Jesus knows, he will judge righteously as he exposes our true characters.
