Reading: John 21:15-25

When talking with Mary, Jesus had said “Tell the disciples and Peter to meet me in Galilee”. Now after breakfast on the morning of the miracle catch of fish, Jesus confronts in love Peter’s denials.

Previously Peter had boasted of greater love and passion for Christ than the other disciples, now he more humbly confesses his love for Christ and appeals to His all-knowing knowledge.

Peter is healed of guilt and commissioned to be a shepherd of God’s flock, as Jesus the head shepherd will no longer be physically here on earth.

Peter previously buckled under the fear of potential suffering, but in the future he will face it faithfully.

Blessing, Curse and Covenant

Rosskeen Free Church Sermons

Reading: Joshua 8:1-35

If Achan had been patient and waited he could have had the clothes and the gold bars when he helped plunder the next place. But Jericho’s plunder was off limits as it was devoted to God in its entirety. Achan had caused Israel to sin and fallen under judgement.

With God with them impossible Jericho was conquered but without God, due to Achan’s sin, even small Ai was too great.

But when the sin was dealt with God in his faithfulness again returned to fight for his people.

Have you even blow it? Felt like there is no way back? Fallen into sin? Have you come back repeatedly to God with the same sin?

Our sinfulness does not shock God. God understands but has proved the way to deal with sin and restore you. Sometimes we make it harder than it need be, since with God there is no probation period after repentance but rather immediate restoration.
