Reading: Luke 12:13-34

Key Verse:  Luke 12:20-21

‘But God said to him, “You fool!
This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?”
‘This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich towards God.

Wealth or the lack of it both have dangers. The wealthy are tempted to trust in their wealth for their security, while the poor worry about making ends meet.

Jesus instructs wealthy who are tempted to ignore God and trust in their wealth for security, not be foolish but be generous and store up treasure in heaven, while those who are poor in this world’s goods are to trust in God’s goodness and know that nothing escapes his knowledge

Contentment depends on our relationship with God

Reading: Psalm 131:1-3 and Philippians 4:10-20

Key Verse: I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I
have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation,
whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

We live in a world that celebrate people’s lives. A celebrity can use their status to make outrageous demands, but even then they are not content. So what makes us content?

Mary Slessor, a missionary, of renowned, to Nigeria lived in simple circumstances wrote in her dairy
“I not very particular about my bed these days, but as I lay on a few dirty sticks laid across and covered with a layer of dirty corn-shells, with plenty of rats and insects, three women and an infant three days old alongside, and over a dozen sheep and goats and cows outside, you don’t wonder that I slept little. But I had such a comfortable quite night in my own heart.”
